I've often pondered that question myself.
After all, SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) services are usually promoted via what appear to be scam type emails.
And when I actually hired two "SEO Experts" neither produced better results than I got myself.
To be fair, I know a LOT about SEO.
And I was already getting good results before I hired them.
But I didn't get those results following the techniques most SEO experts promote.
I figured it out by cobbling together information from a lot of different sources.
You see, SEO is a lot easier than you might think.
And you don't need to do nearly as many things as they want to charge you for.
But an SEO company won't tell you this.
Because they want to charge you for as many services as possible.
Same goes for Google Adwords "Experts".
I've hired two of those as well.
But neither could match the results I got managing my own Adwords campaign.
I'm convinced that's because both adwords companies we hired knew a lot about the structure of setting up an adwords account .... and the mechanics of running a campaign ... but NOTHING about actually marketing a product or service.
Their keywords were all wrong.
The message they wrote in the ads had nothing to do with what our target market desired.
To their credit they knew the importance of measuring results ... but they didn't seem to know what to measure.
So we fired them.
I took over.
And once again, our leads shot up and our cost per lead dropped down.
Let me tell you my biggest gripe with SEO companies:
They promote search engine optimisation services -- which is essentially a marketing related service, right? -- and yet ... they know nothing about marketing.
If they did they wouldn't send scammy emails.
What would they do instead?
They'd implement a sequentially integrated electronic marketing strategy designed to engage marketing managers and company owners in a conversation about the benefits of SEO.
They would lead them, step-by-careful-step through a series of logical and informative devices designed to give these decision makers a clear foundation upon which to make a decision.
Mark my words, the first SEO company to do this will make the lion's share of money spent on SEO services.
Could your company benefit from the same approach?
